Curriculum
At Pike Fold we offer an exciting, rich and challenging curriculum which inspires learning, identifies talents, promotes achievement and celebrates personal achievement.
Our curriculum offer ensures that all our children become engaged, active and responsible citizens who recognise and value their contribution to British society and its institutions and that they gain a perspective of themselves as both local and global citizens.
We endeavour to fulfil the potential of every child academically, socially, morally, spiritually and culturally in order to prepare them for the next stage of their education and their life beyond school and help them to look after their own mental health and well being.
Our curriculum has been designed around the requirements of the National Curriculum and the needs of our children. Subject leaders revise plans to ensure the children at Pike Fold are receiving a broad and balanced curriculum that is innovative and creative. Children become immersed in themes and subjects as they are taught within 'Theads'.
R.E, English, Maths, Science and Computing, being core subjects are taught every week across the year. In Key Stage 2 the children learn French on a weekly basis.
PE is a taught discretely and all children have two hours of PE a week from Year 1 upwards.
Any questions you have about the Curriculum can be addressed by Class teachers or Senior Leaders on request.

Curriculum Threads
Our curriculum is implemented over 3 terms. Each term building on the knowledge and skills of exploration, creation and investigation regarding the world around us, locally, nationally and globally, where possible, sequencing events from past to present. Each term linking with our communication and language development, Colourful Semantics which is embedded throughout school from N-Y6
Alongside our ‘Golden’ curriculum threads which embeds EQUALITY, ACCEPTANCE & COMMUNITY EDUCATION throughout our Whole School curriculum on a termly basis, we also have our ‘Termly focus’ threads-
Autumn- Me and My World,
Spring-What, Where & When
and Summer term- When, How and why?
Our subject thematic threads allow the progression of skills and knowledge and create a link between same subjects, therefore supporting our childrens 'Sticky Knowledge'.
