Pike Fold Year Group Overview and Sticky Knowledge
At Pike Fold Primary School we have planned a 'Knowledge-rich' Curriculum. We want our children to be secure in their learning and the design of our curriculum includes opportunities for our children to revisit previous learning. The curriculum in each subject is carefully planned and sequenced so that new knowledge and skills build on what has been taught before. Teachers have identified crucial content that they want our children to remember long term which is needed for their subsequent learning. We call this 'Sticky Knowledge.'
Sticky knowledge – What is it?
Sticky knowledge is effectively knowledge that will stay with us forever. In other words, an alteration has happened to our long-term memory.
We could divide sticky knowledge into two main parts. Firstly, interesting facts that will remain with us forever and secondly, knowledge that individuals need to learn as part of the national curriculum.
