The Link Governor for SEN is Mrs Dharmila Khimani who can be contacted at d.khimani@pikefold.manchester.sch.uk
If you have any concerns about your child's learning or progress, or think they may have a special educational need then please speak to the class teacher, who will then pass your concern onto the SENCo. Alternatively contact Mrs McKeever directly who will be happy to discuss any concerns.
What is SEND?
Special educational provision is education or training provision that is additional to or different from that made generally for others of the same age. This means provision that goes beyond the differentiated approaches and learning arrangements normally provided as part of high quality, personalised teaching in the classroom.
Areas of Special Educational Needs
Special educational needs and provision can be considered as falling under four broad areas:
1. Communication and interaction
2. Cognition and learning
3. Social, mental and emotional health
4. Sensory and/or physical
Many children and young people have difficulties that fit clearly into one of these areas; some have needs that span two or more areas; for others the precise nature of their need may not be clear at the outset and as a school we strive to work with our families to identify any specific needs.
Further information on how Pike Fold Primary will support your child can be found in our SEND Information Report which is reviewed and updated annually.

School Admission
Here at Pike Fold Primary School, we are committed to meeting the needs of all children including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. We would ask parents to discuss the identified needs with the school prior to starting so that appropriate intervention and support can be planned and implemented. Advice from the LA or other agencies may be requested to ensure the school can meet any needs appropriately.
Applying for a school place if your child has an Education, Health and Care Plan
Children and young people with an Education, Health and Care Plan (or Statement of Special Education Needs) follow a different admission and transfer process for a new school.
You continue to have the right to request a particular school and this will be considered alongside the information that we have about your child’s SEN. The information would have been provided as part of the Education, Health and Care assessment following the review meeting.
