English- Come to circus! Persuasive texts.
Class: Year 4F Year: 2024 - 2025
This week, our class has been diving into the exciting world of persuasive writing, inspired by the magical book Leon and the Place Between. This beautifully illustrated story follows Leon, a boy who believes in magic, as he volunteers to step into a mysterious magician’s box—only to find himself transported to a world of wonder, where anything is possible!
Using the book’s enchanting circus setting as inspiration, we have been exploring the key features of persuasive texts. We’ve examined how rhetorical questions hook the reader, how superlatives create excitement, and how directive language like ‘you’ and ‘your’ makes writing more engaging. We’ve also identified the power of expanded noun phrases for vivid descriptions and the use of sensory language to bring ideas to life.
Soon, we’ll be putting our skills to the test by crafting our own persuasive leaflets—so prepare to be amazed, astonished, and utterly convinced! The circus is coming to town!
