In Year 4, we have been learning fascinating facts about the Anglo-Saxons and their arrival in England. We discovered that the Anglo-Saxons came from regions that are now modern-day Germany, Denmark, and the Netherlands. They began arriving in England around the 5th century, initially as raiders but eventually as settlers. We explored how they established villages, built wooden homes, and developed agricultural practices. Through engaging activities and discussions, we delved into the impact of their culture on the English language, law, and society. Our journey into the past has been both educational and exciting, helping us appreciate the rich history of our country.
