Reading Detectives Year 4
Children in Year 4 and their families have been attending an after school project called Reading Detectives. The programme aims to build parental engagement at the same time as developing children's comprehension and reading skills. The program has run for 4 Thursdays after school. The children and their families have been solving a series of clues, visual, written and web based to solve the mystery of "The stolen scarab beetle". Each week discussions have taken place to unpick the clues using both literal clues and inference skills. We have discussed thoughts, ideas and reasons why/why not various people might be suspects. The children have really enjoyed the sessions, and the feedback from both parents and children has been really positive. We hope to run similar projects again next year.
