Forest school: week 4 🚣
Date: 27th Jun 2017 @ 6:14pm
Our theme this week was boats, due to the rainy weather we had had earlier in the day. The children listened to the story of Noah's ark. We talked about what materials boats were made of to help them float. Following the children's interests we investigated minibeasts, continued to build our dens and generally had fun in the forest! The children are really engaging in their natural environment and we talked about the birds and squirrels which were attracted to the area after we made our seed cones last week. Some of the children made boats and rafts which we tested on the water. They suggested using leaves as sails and it was great to see them problem solving and working together. The forest has definitely been an environment which has extended the children's language and understanding of the world. Some of the children made forest crowns and then enjoyed watching them blow about in the wind. We finished the session reflecting on our experiences and toasting marsh mellows.
