Forest fun 🌳

Some children from Nursery enjoyed a Forest School session despite the rain! The children will enjoy a weekly session over the next 6 weeks with Mrs Armstrong who is a Level 3 Forest School practitioner, and Mrs Hardy. Forest School takes place in a woodland area on the school site and supports the development of a relationship between the learner and the natural world.
For our first session we played a game which promoted safety around our fire circle. We explored our site and talked about how we can enjoy our environment in a safe way. We read ''We're going on a bear hunt' before going on our own adventure in the woodland creating journey sticks of the objects we found. The children enjoyed free play in muddy puddles and gathering natural resources for a fairys picnic! As a part of Forest School the children will be handling different tools and this week we started off with potato peelers to whittle some sticks for toasting our marshmallows. unfortunately, due to the rain our fire wouldn't light enough to toast marshmellows, but this didn't stop our fun (or eating them!). The children reflected on their afternoon by commenting on their favourite aspect of Forest School! We hope the sun returns for our next session!
